Rupert Murdoch war on stage auf der D6 Conference letzte Woche. Einiges interessantes ist dabei gewesen, vor allem die unglaubliche Zahl von 8,3 Redakteuren, die beim Wall Street Journal durchschnittlich an einer Story feilen. Auch nicht schlecht sind Murdochs Aussagen zu Google:

“Every piece of story in WSJ has on average about 8.3 editors involved [...] that is ridiculous. You have to get all of the facts in in half the space [...] New York Times charges $500 a year for subscription [...] now we charge about $150 a year. We still have a long way to go.”

“I think they [Google] are great partners [...] I think they are the greatest company in America. But, for anyone to be a monopoly is a problem [...] but the marketplace takes care of monopolies.”

Ein neues Buch über die Abenteuer des Medien-Grandseigneurs in China ist gerade in den USA erschienen. Irgendwie sträube ich mich seit Jahren mal eine Biographie von Murdoch zu lesen, vielleicht ist das ja mal was. Toller Name übrigens, also die “All Things Digital” Konferenz.

MTV’s newest reality TV show deals with – of all things – a high school newspaper. The paper is called “The Circuit,” it has won several awards for it’s reporting on the Cypress Bay High School. Usually, shows which focus on the news media itself are failures with the audience. We’ll see this time.
